Acupuncture for weight loss
Our weight is inextricably linked to our overall wellbeing. During times of poor sleep and/or chronic stress we are at risk of gaining weight.
Elevated cortisol levels create physiological changes that help to replenish the body's energy stores that are depleted during the stress response. But they can inadvertently contribute to the build-up of fat tissue and weight gain. For example, cortisol increases appetite, so you may find that you are eating more to obtain extra energy. It also increases the storage of unused nutrients as fat.
Getting good quality sleep is very important in weight regulation. Numerous studies have looked at the link between sleep and weight. Overall, the results show that if we get less sleep than we need, our weight tends to increase. The hormones that regulate a feeling of fullness are impacted and we are more likely to crave fatty foods, on top of that we are less inclined to exercise and the result is weight gain.

Although there are no acupuncture points that will help you to miraculously lose weight overnight, acupuncture may be helpful for several reasons.
